Editorial policy

This page explains who writes kinetis.online, how we check facts, how we make money and what we will not do.

Who writes

Content is written and reviewed by Barbara Wright, the responsible editor, on behalf of the publisher DAR STAR s.r.o.. Every article carries a named byline, a publication date and, where relevant, a "last reviewed" date.

How facts are established and sourced

• We prefer primary sources: official regulator decisions, manufacturers' own documentation and independent test laboratories.
• Every factual claim that is not common knowledge is backed by a source listed at the end of the article.
• Where we cannot verify something, we say so, or we tell readers to check the manufacturer's current information.
• We do not publish statistics, scores or specifications we cannot trace to a source. We do not run our own lab tests and do not pretend to.
• If our information differs from the manufacturer's current information, the manufacturer's information prevails, and we say so on the page.

How the site is funded

kinetis.online earns money through affiliate commissions. When a reader follows a link labelled "Partner link" and buys a product, the advertiser (currently Avast, through an affiliate network) may pay DAR STAR s.r.o. a commission. The reader pays the same price either way. We may buy search advertising, for example on Microsoft Advertising, to bring readers to our articles. We do not accept payment for favourable coverage.

How we disclose this: a disclosure bar at the top of every page, a disclosure box directly after the headline of any page with partner links, a "Partner link" label on every commercial button, and a commission note under every button.

What we refuse to do

• Fake testimonials. No invented "reader stories", user reviews or quotations from people who do not exist.
• Invented ratings. No star ratings, scores or "#1" badges that we have not measured and cannot source.
• Artificial urgency. No countdown timers, "only today" claims or fake stock warnings.
• Guaranteed-result claims. No promises of "100% protection" or similar. No security product can guarantee that.
• Hidden advertising. Every commercial link is labelled.
• Fear-based messaging. No fake virus warnings or alarming pop-ups.

Advertiser independence

Advertisers and affiliate networks do not review, approve or edit our articles before publication. We publish information that is unfavourable to an advertiser when it is relevant and sourced. Our Avast article, for example, covers the 2024 regulatory actions against the company. Earning a commission does not give an advertiser any influence over what we write.

Corrections procedure

1. Send the page address, the statement you believe is wrong and, ideally, a source to info@kinetis.online.
2. We acknowledge reports and aim to review them within 14 days.
3. If the statement is wrong, we correct it and add a visible note to the article saying what changed. We do not silently rewrite factual statements.
4. If we decide no correction is needed, we reply with our reasons.

Recent corrections

• 24 September 2026, Avast article: we removed statements describing Avast as "privacy-respecting" and implying that only competitors had privacy problems. We added the 2020–2024 Jumpshot, FTC and ÚOOÚ history. We removed the claims that a single subscription includes a firewall, password manager, VPN and browser, that the product "does not slow down your machine", and that there is a "free trial of the full suite". We removed the "reader story" framing, which did not describe a real reader's story.
